CONRAD — The BCLUW boys track and field team scored 76 points to finish third as a team at the Comets’ Early Bird meet at BCLUW High School on Thursday, April 3.

Jesup won the team title with 124 points, followed by Des Moines North with 94 points. GMG placed eighth with 21 points, North Tama tied for ninth with 16 points and Gladbrook-Reinbeck scored three points.

GMG had the only area winner on the day, as Jay Bessman chucked the discus 129 feet even for gold. North Tama’s Ty Guthrie was second in the event at 126-7 to lead the Redhawks.

Jace Aneweer had Gladbrook-Reinbeck’s best finish with a fifth-place throw in the shot put.
