GMG’s Teske tabs back-to-back honors
Five area players named to Iowa Star Conference’s South Division first team
GARWIN – GMG junior shortstop Colin Teske was named to the all-Iowa Star Conference’s South Division first team for the second year in a row, highlighting the list of five area baseball players honored to the league’s top squad.
Teske garnered the third all-conference honor of his career, earning second-team selection as a freshman before back-to-back seasons on the first team.
Three more area representatives gained promotions to the first team this season, including North Tama junior catcher Kolt Knaack and sophomore outfielder Kayler Morris. Knaack was a first-team pick two seasons ago and an honorable mention last summer, while Morris moved up from second-team honors a year ago.
BCLUW senior infielder Cael Keller gained first-team honors as well after last year’s honorable mention selection. Comet senior Calvin Zoske was voted a first-team utility pick for the first all-conference honor of his career.
Teske finished third in the South Division by hitting .426 during conference play. He tallied three doubles, two triples, a home run, 12 RBIs, 19 runs scored and 17 stolen bases to lead the Wolverines in league action. Teske was 2-2 on the mound with a 3.73 earned run average, striking out 20 batters in 15 innings.
Knaack gained his third all-conference accolade after hitting .349 with two doubles, two triples and 14 RBIs during league play. He stole 17 bases and also played error-free during conference games.
