Let Us Give Thanks
It’s that time of the year again when we all pause to give thanks. For the farmers, it is a thankful time for the Harvest that has been brought in. For others, it is for health or family, or maybe just because we are told to be thankful this time of the year. Whatever you are thankful for, remember to pause and give thanks for the one who has blessed us, Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior.
Thankfulness is a theme we find throughout the Bible. First Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Did you catch what that said? Give thanks in All circumstances. Thankfulness should be a way of life for those of us who call ourselves Christians. It should flow naturally from our hearts and mouths.
Giving thanks should remind us of how much we already have. We as humans are prone to covetousness and we love to focus on what we don’t have. By giving thanks continually, we are reminded of how much we actually have. When we focus on God’s blessings and not our wants and desires, we will be much happier. When we start thanking God for all the things we take for granted our perspective changes. We realize that we could not even exist without the abundant blessings of God. We have a choice this Thanksgiving season. There will always be those things that we can complain about; death, loneliness or depression, but there will also be much to be thankful for.
As our World becomes increasingly secular in the way they view the Bible, the act of “giving of thanks to our Lord” during the Thanksgiving holiday is being overlooked. So often we view Thanksgiving as only a time to gather for football and huge meals. My prayer for your Thanksgiving season is that you are filled with joy and happiness and most importantly, Thankfulness.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” Philippians 4:6
Happy Thanksgiving from Our Family To Yours.
