Scott Schellhorn

Scott Allen Schellhorn, of Tripoli, IA, died at the age of 50 in his home on March 12, 2025.
A Celebration of Scott's Life will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM, at the American Legion Hall in Sumner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Scott's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Scott was born on June 20, 1974, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Duane and Nina Schellhorn. He grew up, the 2nd of 4 Schellhorn kids, in rural Frederika, Iowa, where he helped his parents on the farm and attended Tripoli Community Schools. Ever the worker, he could always be found working on farm machinery, hauling rocks, spraying and Y-dropping or coming up with “the next million-dollar idea”, whether that be his own line of money-clip visors, kayak trailers or his latest venture, learning to distill his own whiskey.
Scott met the love of his life Beth Klein in 1996, and they were married February 6th, 1999. They settled out in the country in Bremer County, IA, not far from where Scott grew up and started a family. Marshall, Ethan, Grant and Nora Schellhorn were all lucky enough to call Scott “Dad” and loved to join in on his constant sarcasm and witty jokes. As he was always pretty even keeled, they all loved to pick his brain and ask for help and advice whenever they could.
Scott started working at John Deere in Waterloo in 1997, before starting a new job with Pentair in 2017. Finally retiring from both in 2023, he was able to do what he truly loved full time, farming. He recently started his own spraying business and loved nothing more than to work out in the shop, window shop tractors online, and talk farming with whoever would listen.
Scott is survived by his wife, Beth Schellhorn, of Tripoli, IA, his kids: Marshall Schellhorn and Kate Mostek, of Mitchell, IA, Ethan Schellhorn and Shaelyn Hostager, of Waverly, IA, and Nora Schellhorn and Leo Stengert, of Tripoli, IA his parents Duane and Nina Schellhorn, his siblings: Robert and Kelli Schellhorn, Kathy and Chris French, and Gene and Laura Schellhorn, his father and mother-in-law Jeff and Teresa Henricks, his brothers and sisters-in-law: Alex and Chelsea Henricks, Jenny Henricks, Phil and Dawn Powers, Jamie Klein, Bobby and Whitney Klein and many aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.
Up in heaven, Scott is probably eating Doritos and having a beer while he catches up with his son, Grant Allen Schellhorn, as well as his grandparents Rudy and Lorena Schellhorn and Jim and Josephine Rochford and grandfather-in-law, Jerry Clark.
