Allen Eggers

Allen Eggers, 91, a lifelong resident of Gladbrook, IA passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Interment will take place at Badger Hill Cemetery in rural Gladbrook with a lunch to follow at the church. Anderson Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the arrangements. Allen was born on May 1, 1933, to Arnold and Martha (Busch) Eggers at his home in Gladbrook. He was one of seven children. Raised in Gladbrook, he graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1951. During high school, he worked at Moeller Produce. On June 7, 1959, Allen married the love of his life, Darlene. In November 1967, he purchased Moeller Produce and, alongside Darlene, operated Eggers Feed and Produce for many years. They were blessed with two children, Ricky and Pamela.
Allen was a U.S. Army veteran, a 20-year volunteer firefighter, and a member of several community organizations, including the Gladbrook Jaycees, the Commercial Club, and the Corn Carnival volunteer committee. He was also a devoted member of Peace United Church of Christ. An avid golfer, Allen proudly achieved two holes-in-one and enjoyed many years playing golf with friends and family.
Allen will be dearly missed by his daughter, Pamela (Marty) Lewis of Dripping Springs, TX; two grandchildren, Shantel (Jarret) Porterfield, Wimberley, TX; Brent (Daniela) Lewis, Austin, TX; and his three great-grandchildren, Forrest & June Porterfield, and Halston Lewis. He is also survived by his sister, Joette (Bobby) Thomas of Bentonsport, IA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; his son, Ricky Eggers; and five siblings, Merlyn Eggers, Harold Eggers, Delores (Howard) Casebolt, Roger Eggers, and Lynn Eggers.
