Thomas James Murphy, 81, Reinbeck, died Sunday, February 9, 2025.
Thomas was born May 7, 1943, in Waterloo to the late James Owen and Evelyn Belle (Sell) Murphy. He graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1961. Thomas went into the US Army and served in Vietnam from 1965-67 at the Tan Son Nhut AFB with the US Army Headquarters detachment in Top Secret Intelligence. He then served with the 41st Army Military Police in St. Louis, MO. After returning home, Thomas farmed in Reinbeck for the rest of his life. It was where he was happiest.
He also enjoyed classic cars, traveling to car shows around the Midwest. Thomas was a member of the Dike American Legion and Catholic Order of Foresters.
Thomas is survived by his partner of 53 years, Diana Parks; brother, Michael (Jill) Murphy and extended family and friends.
The funeral service for Thomas will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. He will be buried at the Waterloo Cemetery.
