Paul Weiss

Paul L. Weiss, 89, of Reinbeck, died on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Parkview Manor in Reinbeck. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21 from 4:00 – 6:00 at the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck with a private family burial afterwards in the Reinbeck Cemetery.

Paul Larry Weiss was born on January 30, 1936, in rural Grundy County, the son of Ray and Lucile (Wilhelm) Weiss. He graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1954. Paul married Kay Barfels, of Grundy Center, on June 15, 1957.

Paul held various jobs including working at the Hudson Creamery, owning the DX Station in Reinbeck, delivering Anderson Erickson Milk door-to-door for sixteen years, farming with his father-in-law Lester Barfels, driving a semi truck for Fogt Farms and driving truck to haul rock for Folkerts & Son Trucking.

Paul enjoyed camping and boating with his family at Lake Pepin, Minnesota. After the girls grew up, Paul and Kay transitioned to riding a Honda Interstate motorcycle in their free time. Paul restored a 1938 Minneapolis Moline UDLX tractor which he and Kay took to various tractor shows in eight states. Paul purchased a 1942 Minneapolis Moline R-Cab companion tractor so he could participate on tractor rides and in parades. Paul's last hobby was driving his corvette and attending the weekly Cedar Valley Corvette Club outings with Kay including a few in 2024.

Paul served the Reinbeck Community by being a member of the Reinbeck Fire Department for 35 years. He was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Paul is survived by his wife, Kay of The Elms in Reinbeck; daughter Susan (Jerry) Green, of Cedar Falls, and daughter Julie (Scott) Mueller, of Cape Coral, Florida; grandsons, Jonathan (Samantha) and David (Angie) along with great granddaughters Emma and June and great grandson Dawson. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Ann Bern Gooden and great grandson Conrad Mueller.

Memorials may be made to the Reinbeck Fire Department or the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck.
