Cecil Wrage

Cecil Wrage, 88, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 30th. He was born September 24th, 1936, to Emil and Katie (Bern) Wrage in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was raised northwest of Lincoln, IA and graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1954. He served his country in the US Army from 1957-59.
After high school, Cecil worked for John Deere in Waterloo before he began farming. He was married to Jo Ann Steinmeyer in 1960. To this union, he had three children, Jeffrey, Nathan and Randy. They later divorced.
Cecil farmed most of his life and was also a machinery trader, buying and selling farm equipment for many years. He was well-known at area auctions. In his later years, he enjoyed going to dances, coffee with the Lincoln bunch and the buffet breakfasts at Meskwaki.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Lenora Maassen, Wayne Sr., Melvin, Inez Harms and Phylis Henry, and his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Becky. He is survived by his sons Nathan (Jennifer) and Randy (Amy), four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A private family interment will be held Friday, February 7th, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
