Gladbrook Women’s Club December, January news
On Dec. 12, the Gladbrook Women’s Club met for a Christmas luncheon. It was held upstairs at the City Center. The lit up Festival of Trees made for a wonderful Christmas atmosphere. Linda Schneider catered a yummy lunch for the fourteen attendees. After lunch we had a trivia contest and then played Christmas Family Feud.
January News
On Jan. 9 Cheryl Bruene from the ISU Extension and Outreach Tama County office presented our program on Memory and Music. She talked about how we can keep our brain healthy. Music and diet being two of those things. She gave suggestions of things to do and eat to have a healthy brain!
The meeting was called to order with 16 members answering roll call. We were asked “Would you rather read a book or paint a picture!” The book won out!
The minutes from November were read and approved.
The treasurer’s report was given. Our yearly donations were sent out in December. Our donations went to Crayon Corner, Tama County Food Pantry, Gladbrook Community Foundation, Gladbrook Community Library, Gladbrook Fire Department, Gladbrook Lincoln Ambulance, Cedar Valley Hospice, Iowa River Hospice, and Kids’ Shopping Day.
Thank you notes from IA River Hospice, Cedar Valley Hospice, and NW Tama County Food Pantry were read.
The Santa Sack report was given. Close to 400 sacks were packed.
The Corn Carnival Collectors Fair committee is asking for volunteers to help that day by sitting at the Welcome table.
The date for the June outing has been changed from June 12 to June 19 since the 12th is the first day of Corn Carnival and the day of the Collectors Fair.
Our sign up for committees and hostesses for the 2025-2026 will be at the next meeting.
Our February meeting will be at the Methodist Church on Feb. 13 with Rose Russell telling us about the Prayer Shawl Ministry.
