Reinbeck American Legion Auxiliary Unit #242 is pleased to announce they have selected Amaya Peterson of Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School to represent their Unit at the 2023 Girls State Conference held at Drake University in Des Moines. Amaya is a junior this year and is involved in Band, Choir, FFA, Speech, Musicals, Student Council, 4-H and Gladbrook Junior Auxiliary. Her parents are Loni and James Droigk.

Iowa Girls State is one of the premier programs sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary and was started in the hope of teaching young women about the political process. Girls State is a “learning by doing” program, which takes the girls through the entire political process. Girls State Citizens must be between their junior and senior year at school.
