The Rickert and Wessel Law firm has announced that attorney Erika L. Allen has joined the firm as a partner, effective January 1. Allen, who has served as Grundy County Attorney for the past five years and as an assistant county attorney since 2007, was formerly with the Grundy Center law firm of Heronimus, Schmidt, Allen, Schroeder and Geer.

“Erika Allen has an excellent and established reputation within the legal and local communities. She will expand our practice of law and broaden our services to clients in the area. “Joining Abby Wessel in the practice of law allows me to narrow the focus of my work and practice the areas of law I most enjoy, while continuing my duties as Grundy County attorney,” said Allen, who intends to concentrate on estate planning and business law in her new practice. “I appreciate serving Grundy County as its county attorney, and will continue to receive support from assistant county attorney Kali L. Adams.”

Allen has practiced law in Grundy County for fourteen years, after graduating from the University of Iowa, College of Law. Abby Wessel has practiced law in Reinbeck since 2010. The firm will now be known as Rickert, Wessel & Allen, located at 115 Broad Street in Reinbeck with an office in Dysart. The firm was started by B.E. Hunter in 1949 and former senior partner Mike Rickert joined the firm in 1969 until his retirement in 2015.
